			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>EVE is a massive multiplayer online game (MMOG) set in a science-fiction based, persistent world. Players take the role of spaceship pilots seeking fame, fortune and adventure in a huge, complex, exciting and sometimes hostile galaxy.</p>
<p>EVE Online is a unique MMORPG on the market. Most of the features in it are by far superior to what most MMORPGs have to offer. While running on a single server it sustains over 30.000 people, last time I saw there were about 35.000 online.</p>
<p>Most of the Massive Multiplayer Online Games out there have a spawn life that lasts from 3 to 5 years, and from that, most of the subscribers decide to try something new, because the game shows its age on graphics, content and the population number is lowering. Most of the developers don’t prevent this and they have it planned from the very launching of the game.</p>
<p>On the other side, CCP Games released EVE Online in 2003 and during the years the game received more content, players increased to a whooping 35.000 players at the same time, on a single server and over 200k subscriptions. The game evolved in every category, instead of going down. This happened because the Developers provide expansion packs every year, graphics updates, optimization, and because of the fabric of the game, a game that will live for another 10 years, if they want to take care of it.</p>
<p>This year, CCP released material with the upcoming graphic update to the engine, which will boost the game at the current graphics standards on the market. The old client will still be available for those that don’t have “horsepower” in their PCs</p>
<p>Check the movie below with a comparison between the old models and the new models that twill be introduce this fall, or next year first quarter, will see:P</p>
<p><embed width="450" height="272" src="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/flvplayer.swf" quality="high" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="file=/video/Trinity_2_Comparison_Reel_1.flv&amp;image=images/uploads/20071124_eq2birth.jpg&amp;width=450&amp;height=272&amp;backcolor=0x475B73&amp;lightcolor=0x4A97DB&amp;frontcolor=0xCCCCCC&amp;overstretch=true&amp;autostart=true"></embed></p>
<p><script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[
	var s1 = new SWFObject("flvplayer.swf","single","450","272","7");
	s1.addParam("allowfullscreen","true");
	s1.addVariable("file","/video/Trinity_2_Comparison_Reel_1.flv");
	s1.addVariable("image","images/uploads/20071124_eq2birth.jpg");
	s1.addVariable("width","450");

    s1.addVariable("overstretch","true");
    s1.addVariable("autostart","true");
    s1.write("player1");
// ]]&gt;</script></p>
<p>And also the screenshots below show the new models in action.</p>

<p align="left">Next year, on the next update, the developers plan to add a new expansion, we know it as &#8220;Walking in Stations&#8221;, where the players will able to interact with the other players docked in a station, with their human avatars, being able to own shops, plan meetings, relax at the bars and other features that we have yet to know, EVE will become even larger.</p>
<p align="left">Being one of few “out of the box&#8221; MMORPGs out there, EVE Online still holds a great position on the market, and with the general improvements we see every year, i must say EVE will be here on top 10 games for a long time.</p>
<p>Good job CCP Games!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>oday the latest expansion for EVE Online was launched. This expansion contains an upgrade to the graphics engine, new ships with specific roles, cruiser size interdictors, t2 battleships, T2 freighters and more.</p>
<p>After we upgraded to premium graphics, we noticed that beside that they are great, from station, hangars and ships, EVE is more optimized, from opening the market, to several cans, EVE has a higher fps, which is great. The old graphics engine is still available for those that don’t have the pc capable of running the current update.</p>
<p>The deployment of this expansion went very smooth, with just a few problems that are already taken care of.</p>
<p>Like one of my corp members said, with all this new content, huge amount, new graphics engine, and many new features, we feel like “a kid in candy store” once again.</p>
<p>Good job CCP Games!</p>

<p>On Saturday 28th of June, Blizzard Entertainment announced their latest project  at WWI ‘ 08, and to the surprise of all the fans, this project is Diablo III, the next chapter in the Diablo franchise, sold very well all over the world as the best isometric action RPG series.</p>
<p>You might be wondering why we talk about this on a MMORPG Portal. Well Diablo I and Diablo II had also online play, trough battlezone.net, a service owned by Blizzard, where players could gather and play the game online with friends, so due to the quality and popularity of this game where most of the players played it online, we could take it like as an online rpg, but still remains to be seen if we add it in our list on our site.</p>
<p><strong>So what’s new in Diablo III ? </strong></p>
<p>Well, first you will be surprised with how good it looks in terms of graphics, from the gameplay movie below. Secondly, they kept the old features and added some new interesting ones, as in better customization over the characters to give you a better way to specialize fighting skills, abilities that you like, some parts of the environment are destructible, available for you to unleash the wrath on your enemies, havoc powered physics, improved random world generator, dynamic encounters, random scripted events, quests and other goodies.</p>
<p id="player123" align="center"><embed id="single" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="458" height="350" src="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/flvplayer.swf" name="single" quality="high" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="file=/video/Diablo3-GameplayTrailer_EU_EN.flv&amp;image=images/news/d3gameplay.jpg&amp;width=458&amp;height=350&amp;backcolor=0x475B73&amp;lightcolor=0x4A97DB&amp;frontcolor=0xCCCCCC&amp;overstretch=true&amp;autostart=false"></embed></p>
<p><script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[

<p>	s1.addVariable("lightcolor","0x4A97DB");</p>
<p>	s1.addVariable("frontcolor","0xCCCCCC");</p>
<p>    s1.addVariable("overstretch","true");</p>
<p>    s1.addVariable("autostart","false");       </p>
<p>    s1.write("player123");
// ]]&gt;</script> <strong>Storyline </strong></p>
<p>“It has been twenty years since the events of Diablo II. Of those who faced the Lords of Hatred, Terror, and Destruction in the battle over the fate of Sanctuary, there are few still living who can bear to remember the horrors that the Prime Evils wrought upon the world. And of those who did not witness the terrible events firsthand, most believe the stories to be little more than myth. But something evil is stirring once again in Tristram, and it may already have claimed its first victim: Deckard Cain. ”</p>
<p>Being old rpg players, we remember well Diablo I and Diablo II, for their great story, superb presentation, and fast paced, fun game play, and we can’t wait for Diablo 3, to play again for the story, and cooperative and online play, a mode where Blizzard might have bigger plans than we know at this moment.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span>As with all markets that can make serious money, the MMORPG genre began to attract the attention of the sharks (big corporations, clueless share holders, people that only care about ching! ching! cash).</p>
<p><a title="Asherons Call - 1999" href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/ac1astateofminde.jpg"><img src="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/ac1astateofmindes.jpg" alt="Asherons Call - 1999" align="left" /></a>While 10 years ago the mmorpg games, like <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-14-Ultima-Online.html" target="_blank">Ultima Online</a>, <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-21-EverQuest.html" target="_blank">Everquest</a> and <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-33-Asherons-Call.html" target="_blank">Asherons Call</a> opened a new genre of games with persistent online world, where players gathered together to adventure and challenge the unknown, and the genre started to attract attention of the media and players. During the next years other games were released, games like <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-32-Anarchy-Online-Classic.html" target="_blank">Anarchy Online</a>, <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-2-EVE-Online.html" target="_blank">EVE Online</a>, <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-30-Dark-Age-of-Camelot.html" target="_blank">Dark Age of Camelot</a>, Star Wars Galaxies and many others that weren’t that popular, but that doesn’t mean that they weren’t great. The Developers of these games had a large freedom in design and they came up with some great things, like total freedom over your character evolution, superb features, like the vassal&lt;patron in Asheron Call, pvp system in Ultima Online and EQ, and a multitude of features on SWG, RVR in DAOC, and that stop when…</p>
<div>In 2004 <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-23-World-of-Warcraft.html" target="_blank">World of Warcraft </a>was released, which still is the most popular mmorpg game ever released, with over 10 mil of subscribers where probably 1 mil are e-gold farmers( big business there..), see Seth Lex’s article on the <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/article-22-Welcome-to-The-Human-Farm.html" target="_blank">mmorpg farming</a> for more details.</div>
<p><a title="World of Warcraft" href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/wowstateofmind.jpg"><img src="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/wowstateofminds.jpg" alt="World of Warcraft" align="left" /></a>What did WOW for this genre is at the same time good and bad. At first with the uber Blizzard marketing department, that could promote horse shit and sell it to 10 million people(RESPECT!), managed to inform the people and catch them in the mmorpg genre which is great for all the games, companies. The Bad thing that WOW did for this genre, is that it destroyed it. Why? Well when the sharks found out that so much money can be made, they started to tell their companies to make something similar, to get their money for their 10 houses, 10 cars, and the 10 women that  they never know their names, and of course power. Our Society these days teaches us, that financial power is a part of evolution process, not knowledge…With these facts in mind, developers stopped to innovate, or to take the genre to the genre to the next level because they had people screaming in their ears, that they want money!</p>
<p>WOW was made with the idea kept in mind, to be played by everybody, and thus no conscience in PVP, no harsh world, only a fantasy game, very polished, that copied everything that was made so far, where most of the things dropped from the sky,  and made it better, and also made a system, so the player can grind multiple months for equip, fame, glory until next addon, expansion, thus subs, and cash in, much like cigarettes, drugs, you got to keep the player in it. WOW didn’t come with innovation to the market, just took what it was there, and made it 100% commercial and more accessible, which is not bad overall, but there are big design flaws there, intended <img src='http://www.popmmorpg.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>When making a game “FUN” like producers, share holders ask us these days, usually means try to make it accessible to as many people as possible, more people equals more money, and destroy the genre eventually. Let’s take for example the FPS genre, which is made for people that like to shoot things from first person view, with big guns, explosions, and uber graphics, and from time to time, we actually have a good story (see Half Life, Stalker, etc). Of course it’s not bad to add some rpg elements like Deus Ex, or Stalker did, but don’t destroy the genre, keep in the basic recipe which works, evolve it as a genre, don’t dumb it down. The only games I found that did something for this genre as in taking to the next step are Half Life(story and presentation), Call of Duty(gameplay elements), Stalker (rpg and story elements based on FPS), and the old and fascinating System Shock 1, 2, and Deus Ex.</p>
<p>Now you would ask how come a multibillion company as Blizzard, didn’t want to make a superb mmorpg game, with tons of innovation features that work, thus, evolving, taking the genre to the next level (they did but only to a limited level) , for a player base of 1-2 million, or copy everything and make it better, and get 10 million sub with a powerful brand and marketing. Which one will you choose? Money and innovation, or just money? If I will make a poll, I am sure that most of you will choose 10 million. Why? Because our society has indoctrinated us so badly that all we want is money, and after that, more money, so there is no place for art, passion, things that the old game designers from 10 years ago had, when making a game.</p>
<p>In the last years, the most pleasant surprises in this genre I received from titles that are not promoted that heavily, they are unknown, with a small player base, games like <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-64-Saga.html" target="_blank">Saga</a> (made and taken to the professional level by a few enthusiast gamers), <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-10-Shattered-Galaxy.html" target="_blank">Shattered Galaxy</a> (old rts online game, that could score huge, with decent budget), <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-69-Mabinogi.html" target="_blank">Mabinogi</a> with its simplistic but great features in, <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-54-Project-Torque.html" target="_blank">Project Torque</a> and even <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-11-Navy-Field.html" target="_blank">Navy Field</a>, Jumpgate. And on commercial level <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-2-EVE-Online.html" target="_blank">EVE Online</a> ( the only mmorpg game that had the balls to do something different and survives very well with his 300-500k player base) and <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-32-Anarchy-Online-Classic.html" target="_blank">Anarchy Online</a> with his unique universe and features.</p>
<p><a title="Warhammer Online" href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/warastateofmind.jpg"><img src="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/warastateofminds.jpg" alt="Warhammer Online" align="left" /></a>So what happens these days? Well we are waiting for games like <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-28-Warhammer-Online--Age-of-Reckoning.html" target="_blank">WAR</a> ( I have high hope because of Paul Barnett, I hate you Paul:P, great marketing skills he has), <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-9-Aion--Tower-of-Eternity.html" target="_blank">Aion</a> (tho original is made for korean people so I don’t have high hopes for this title), old skool <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-59-Jumpgate-Evolution.html" target="_blank">Jumpgate Evolution</a>, <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-63-Earthrise.html" target="_blank">Earthrise</a>, <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-25-The-Chronicles-of-Spellborn.html" target="_blank">Spellborn</a>, <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-63-Earthrise.html" target="_blank">Fallen Earth</a> and the resurrection of <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/game-22-The-Saga-of-Ryzom.html" target="_blank">Ryzom</a>. While every major company like SOE, NC Soft, Mythic maybe?! (will see), tries to bring features from WOW so they can get more subs like Blizzard did.</p>
<p>I don’t want to say to you guys, that they are not developers out there that are trying to make great mmorpg games, but those usually you won’t see them on every mmorpg portal, with videos, “paid” previews and other things, because they are small, and probably they are not interested to sell bullshit to you, they are busy working their ass off. If they get 100-200k subs they are happy and they can get enough money to survive(no! not to buy 1 mil houses, and wifes, but to have a decent life), and develop the game further.</p>
<p>In the end it’s all our fault, us, the players, because we buy their incomplete, or flawed products,  see Age of Conan. Age of Conan is the most sold MMORPG (Beta) ever in the history of mmorpg games in the first month of release, they say, but in reality in my country you can even buy the collectors edition from the store. Where you saw that on a successful commercial mmorpg? Indeed I think they made lots of money in the first month, but after that, collapse…</p>
<p>Ending Note:</p>
<p>This is an opinion of a one man, gamer for 20 years, developer, and MMORPG Center Owner. This article must be taken as it is, I don’t want to influence you in a way or another, read and understand what you want. Also you must understand that this portal, website, is created and maintained by gamers, players like you, not people that can be bought on the first sight of a euro or a dollar. We try to make some money, but we won’t sell our mothers just to promote a commercial title that doesn’t bring anything new, or doesn’t have a place in our standards which some are similar to yours and some are not.</p>
<p>Have a good day</p>
<p><em>“In the end when the papers will burn, what will be left of you? They will love you for you character, for your looks, for what you accomplish in the past, or for your wisdom?”</em></p>

<p>With the launch of the highly acclaimed MMORPG Game, Warhammer Online, many mmorpg players from all of the world are starting to populate the world of WAAAGH!. With this in mind and having the privilege to play from open beta, we thought that it could be helpful to make a Top 10 WAR F.A.Q for New Players.</p>
<p> <b>1. Which server to choose?</b></p>
<p> It important before choosing the server, to see the population balance between the faction, so it advisable to get on a high to full server (preferably for Order and Destruction), even if you stay on queues, because in this game it important that the server to be as populated as possible.</p>
<p> <b>2. What’s the best faction?</b></p>
<p> While numbers matters usually, from my experience with open RVR, the group that coordinates the best wins, even if they are half in numbers then the enemy, so choose whatever fits you, tho people are saying that order have lower numbers, which is not always true.</p>
<p> <b>3. What’s the best class?</b></p>
<p> While WAR is a RVR game after all, where big armies fight for fame and supremacy anytime in the world, it important to understand that it a team based game, so choose what you like to do when participating in this clashes. From healer, tank, damage dealer, ranged damage dealer, etc. Also with time you can become a hybrid if you want, by specializing in the dps, tank, support trees. Healers can do damage in this game, and also they are hard to kill if you’re a not a damage dealer.</p>
<p> <b>4. What’s the best way to level, gain rank?</b></p>
<p> The beauty and the success of this game is that you get xp from about anything you do, so sometimes you will notice you leveled without even knowing. If you are PVE player you can level from the normal quests given by NPC, Public Quests which are great, exploring and unlocking the world, and by just playing and reading the Tome of Knowledge you can find out that you can get xp for anything you do, and you choose what to do next. On the other side you can basically level by doing RVR scenarios and some outdoor RVR. You get enough xp from participating in RVR so you can only do that if you really want to.</p>
<p> <b>5. How do I get PHAT LOWT!?</b></p>
<p> You get equipment by doing normal quests, you get good rewards from participating in public quests, and finishing all stages, thus getting rewards for each stage where the last two give the best rewards. You get random world drops in RVR or in PVE which sometimes are great. I got some nice shoulders from a RVR scenario. And last you get to buy Renown Gear from Renown Merchants in the cities, which are accessible if you level up in Renown Rank which is basically the PVP – RVR rank. The more you participate in RVR, Scenario and Out Door RVR, the faster you will level your RP rank, and by killing enemies and conquering RVR Objectives, Keeps.</p>
<p> <b>6. Where is the Renown Merchant for rank/level 10?</b></p>
<p> Until level/rank 8-9, you will be able to purchase Renown Gear from Merchants from your War Camp in Tier 1 (deselect Filter Usable to see all items), after that your next Renown Gear Merchants you will find them on the top floor of the Keeps in the Tier 2 lands. But if your faction doesn’t own the keep, well get in a Warband and Conquer the Enemy Keep! You’re still here?! <br /> <b><br /> 7. What happens when a territory is controlled by a faction</b>?</p>
<p> In tier 1 (first map where you start), if your faction controls that territory, all players there will get 20% Renown Bonus, 20% Influence Bonus (with this you advance trough the stages of the Public Quests), + 5% Buy Discount at all Merchants, &#8211; 5% Sell Discount at all Merchants, and the chance to piss your enemies off =)) . In Tier 2 it gets more dramatic, besides the bonuses if your faction doesn’t control a keep, well you can’t buy Renown Gear, so no PHAWT Loot! But you still can get decent to great equipment from PVE and RVR Scenarios. Tier 3 and 4, well we are not there yet, but it something similar.<br /> <b><br /> 8. When I can buy my first mount?</b></p>
<p> You can buy your first mount at level/rank 20, and it costs 15 Gold. So far we know that Chaos have Horses, Orcs have Pigs, Goblins have Wolfs, and DarkElfs have Dinosaurs to ride. What about Order? No idea, Pink Ponies maybe.</p>
<p> <b>9. How do you visit other lands?</b></p>
<p> You can visit other lands from your faction by visiting a Flight Master, usually located on the War Camp, last village in your area, close to the RVR objectives. From there you can fly to your Capital, or visit the Tier 1 lands of your allies and get back of course.</p>
<p> <b>10. How do i meet or play with my friends from the other allied faction?</b></p>
<p> Well until you get to the War Camp with the Flight Master, you can group with your friends from the same faction, and participate in RVR Scenarios. The one who joins the scenario from his territory will automatically take the party members with him in that RVR Scenario from that territory and vice versa. </p>
<p> Enjoy!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span>The developers behind Mythos return as Runic Games, and they have a promising project already in development named Torchlight.<a title="Torchlight" href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/torch1.jpg"><img src="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/torch1s.jpg" alt="Torchlight" align="right" /></a>“Torchlight” is an adventure-themed Action-MMORPG. Adventurers set out from the town of Torchlight into the nearby mountains in search of the magic ore that imbues their equipment with power, yet imperils their very existence. “Torchlight” emphasizes a simple and intuitive interface, fast and furious action, and a colorful and compelling game world.</p>
<p>Runic Games will initially release Torchlight as a standalone Single Player game, Torchlight will be released in the latter part of 2009 as a download or in box. Following the single player release, work will commence on a fully-featured MMO version.</p>
<p>In our small interview with the developer before E3 we found out this:</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><em>1. Mythos was a very popular game at MMORPG Center, can you tell us what happen with this IP?</em></span></p>
<p>You know, we loved making and playing Mythos, but don’t have any information on it anymore. We’ve taken all the passion we had for that project and the feedback from our amazing fans, and put that towards making a brand new game, Torchlight.</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><em>2. With the new company formed, can you tell us what are your plans, goals, what type of games you are planning to make?</em></span></p>
<p>We love games and love to make games that we love to play! That said, we are so happy to be working on Torchlight! We’re creating the single player version right now which is already really fun. We’ll be doing a demo of it at E3. Look for it to be released later this Fall.</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><em>3. What can you tell us about your upcoming project Torchlight?</em></span></p>
<p>Torchlight is an action-adventure RPG in the finest tradition of the genre – everything you would want and more, cool bosses to conquer, loot to find, trap doors within the levels, highly moddable and great fun to play. The single player version will be out in Fall 2009, and the MMO version will build on the Torchlight world and will be released later.</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><em>4. What are the key features that you will think will keep players busy and entertained?</em></span></p>
<p>Torchlight is already addictive – the graphics are great, quests and challenges are very satisfying. I think players will really appreciate the mod-ability in Torchlight and it will keep them coming back for more.</p>
<p><span style="color: #3366ff;"><em>5. What model of pricing you will use?</em></span></p>
<p>We’re still figuring this out, but will let you know!<br />
From the E3 factsheet we get more information:</p>
<p><strong>Single Player Version</strong></p>
<p><a title="Torchlight" href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/torch2.jpg"><img src="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/images/torch2s.jpg" alt="Torchlight" align="left" /></a>Players will choose from among three character classes, and venture from the safety of the town of Torchlight into randomly generated dungeon levels, with a huge variety of creepy monsters, endless variations of loot to find, and quests to complete. The endless randomization ensures a long-lived gameplay experience.</p>
<p><strong>KEY FEATURES:</strong></p>
<p>1.    Randomization – Our level layouts are randomly created, so each adventure is unique. Monsters, treasures, puzzles, and items are also different each time you embark on an adventure.<br />
2.    Easy, approachable interface – Torchlight is designed to be easy to play right from the beginning. The intuitive interface gives players easy access to a rich and varied world.<br />
3.    Retirement System – Once characters are sufficiently leveled up, they can “retire” and bestow specific benefits and perks to new characters.<br />
4.    Pets – Players will choose a pet to accompany them. Pets can level up along with the player, and will help in battle, carry items, and perform a variety of helpful services.<br />
5.    Character Classes – Players will create and customize a character and choose an animal companion. Through cosmetic choices, skill path decisions, and the treasures they acquire, each character will be custom-tailored and different.<br />
6.    Fishing – Players can take a break from the high-energy pace of adventuring to visit one of the fishing holes and relax and see what they can catch. Fish have interesting benefits for the player and pet, and other rewards can also be discovered<br />
7.    Included Editor – Runic Games is embracing our modding community by including an editor so our players can create and design their own content.</p>
<p><strong>MMO Version</strong></p>
<p>The Torchlight MMO expands on virtually every aspect of gameplay. While maintaining the fast-paced Actiion RPG gameplay style, Torchlight will introduce many traditional MMO features and an expansive world. Like the other Perfect World-published MMOs, Torchlight will be “Free-To-Play.” Players can earn and spend money to upgrade a large variety of items to enhance their game play experience through an in-game item shop.</p>
<p>Published by Perfect World, the Torchlight MMO will offer a rich social environment where players can adventure together in a contiguous over world environment with many different dungeon types to explore. Populated by a diverse and colorful set of vendors, quest-givers, and town elders, players will learn about the rich lore and history of Torchlight and the surrounding Ember veins, and set off on quests and adventures that reveal the secrets, dangers, and long history of the magical substance.</p>
<p>The release date for the Torchlight MMO is yet to be determined.</p>
<p><strong>KEY MMO ADDITIONS</strong></p>
<p>8.    Expansive World – Large overland areas and deep, randomly generated dungeons offer a variety of exploration and adventuring opportunities.<br />
9.    Customization – The level of character customization is upped significantly in the MMO, with more class choices, looks, and options which allow a truly personalized character.<br />
10.    Territory Wars – Torchlight will take advantage of precedent set by other Perfect World MMOs and offer weekly battles for territory, with winners receiving significant rewards.<br />
11.    Mounts – Large variety of mounts to assist in navigating the world.<br />
12.    PvP – Torchlight will give PvP fans a variety of constructs to determine just who the mightiest warrior in the land is.<br />
13.    Social Features – Marriage systems, buddy lists, chat features, and world events will all create a rich social environment never before seen in an action MMO.</p>
<p>Due to the success of Mythos but the sad demise of the company, we are waiting with joy this action rpg mmo, and I am sure many Mythos players will love this game.<br />
Check out the latest trailer on our site <a href="http://www.mmorpg-center.com/video-234-Torchlight--Destroyer-Trailer.html">Torchlight – Destroyer Trailer</a>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Potential is a funny word, and compiling a list of ten games that I feel currently have the most potential was a more difficult task than I first anticipated. First, I tried to come up with a list of games that simply have the most potential in a general sense. The problem is, you can&#8217;t do that. Potential, and how much a game has, is a subjective thing so I chose to present the ten games that I personally feel have the most potential. That&#8217;s why you&#8217;ll undoubtedly notice that I&#8217;ve left something off that you feel should be on there certainly before at least one of the games that I chose. I mean, just off the top of my head, I know that there are arguments to be made for: Jumpgate Evolution, Mortal Online, Champions Online and others. If you feel passionately that one of these, or another game should have been on my list, feel free to take some time not just to tell me that I&#8217;m an idiot, but to tell me why.</p>
<p>Remember, potential isn&#8217;t a measure of what a game is, it&#8217;s a measure of what a game could be.</p>
<p><strong>10- Stargate Worlds</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to start this entry by saying that I am a big fan of the Stargate franchise. Those characters in that universe entertained me for over ten years, and the idea of being able to go virtually into that same universe and have my own adventures made my socks roll up and down.</p>
<div><a href="javascript:viewImage(800,600,'|features|3330|images|3330_1.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/3330/images/3330_1_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>I have not, however, been living under a rock. I am well aware of the trouble that the game is in. I fully realize that there is a rather severe deadline looming and that the game will, in all likelihood, die before we have a chance to know it. I don&#8217;t know if this fate was accidental, circumstantial, or the result of an incompetent foul-up or twenty and in the end, it doesn&#8217;t really matter. It still cheeses me off.</p>
<p>It wasn&#8217;t just the Stargate franchise that filled this game with potential, there were also some neat features I would have liked to see: The game&#8217;s combat that made proper use of tactics and cover, the mini-game system that gave non-combatants something interesting to do, the advanced AI that was clearly at work, The Archaeologist role&#8230; There was lots to look forward to here.</p>
<p>So, in the event that any potential investors are reading, or that anyone might be reading from MGM, I will say this: Players are ready for a Stargate MMO. There were a lot of good ideas here and while certain factors conspired against it this time, this project, in some form or another, is worth continuing and I strongly urge you to find a way to make that happen.</p>
<p><strong>9 &#8211; APB</strong></p>
<p>The folks at Realtime Worlds, the company that put out the sandbox style single player Crackdown, are taking their kick at the MMORPG can with All Points Bulletin, more commonly referred to as APB.</p>
<div><a href="javascript:viewImage(800,600,'|features|3330|images|3330_2.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/3330/images/3330_2_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>I have to be honest, when I first heard about this game, I really didn&#8217;t see the appeal. It looked to me like it was going to be just another GTA-looking game with a slightly more advanced multiplayer mode. As the game has moved through development, I&#8217;m happy to report that it looks like more than that.</p>
<p>I am a big fan of the proposed cops and robbers style of RvR (but we can&#8217;t call it that because SOMEONE thought it would be fun to copyright the term&#8230; jerks), where bad guys commit crimes, and they are matched up with good guys whose job it is to track them down. This, in my opinion, is the next logical evolution of the GTA / Crackdown / Saint&#8217;s Row style of games. Give people what they really want: the ability to put the hurt on other players with the full support of design and story not just something knocked off at the last minute that tries hard to use single player design and tools in a multiplayer world.</p>
<p>Also, from what I&#8217;ve heard about the game&#8217;s character customization, this should appeal to even the clothes horses among us.</p>
<p><strong>8 &#8211; The Secret World</strong></p>
<p>Funcom&#8217;s follow-up to Age of Conan is coming in the form of the shadow-world-behind-our-own-world, Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Call of Cthulhu game known as The Secret World.</p>
<div>
<p><a href="javascript:viewImage(800,600,'|features|2904|images|2904_2.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/2904/images/2904_2_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></p>
<div>
<p>Now, I know right from the get-go that there is a contingent of people out there who are going to say &#8220;I&#8217;m not going to touch this game as long as Funcom is attached.&#8221; It&#8217;s the same group of people that made those clever Failcom logos and t-shirts after the Age of Conan launch. To you folks I say, ok, cool. You&#8217;re welcome to your opinion and I support voting with your dollars. Fight the good fight. To the rest of us, I think we&#8217;re looking at a game that might turn some heads.</p>
<p>As of right now, there isn&#8217;t a lot of detail available, but what I do know, I like. I like, for example, the fact that this game is being made without the restriction of classes or levels. It&#8217;s a risky proposition, but the setting is right for it. Classes make logical sense in high fantasy, but not so much on the streets of Manhattan.</p>
<p>I think, for me at least, it&#8217;s the setting itself that I see potential in. The world and basic premise have been a long time in begging for an MMO incarnation and if (and it&#8217;s a big if) this is handled correctly, Funcom could be looking at a game that could hold player attention (and subscriptions) over the long term.</p>
<p><strong>7 &#8211; EVE Online</strong></p>
<p>I know that right now some of you are sitting at home saying, &#8220;Jon, you silly man, EVE Online isn&#8217;t an upcoming game. Some guys from Iceland launched it like six years ago.&#8221; To those of you out there I say first, watch your language, and second, just because a game is older doesn&#8217;t mean it can&#8217;t have potential.</p>
<div><a href="javascript:viewImage(800,600,'|features|3157|images|3157_3.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/3157/images/3157_3_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>Yes, this is going to be the only launched game that makes my list. It isn&#8217;t that other launched games don&#8217;t have potential. That&#8217;s the beauty of MMOs, there&#8217;s potential everywhere. The thing is that EVE Online simply drips the stuff. If EVE Online were a sponge that wiped up potential, you&#8217;d have to ring it out a few times before you used it again&#8230; Or maybe even replace it with some kind of Sham-Wow of potential. Let me explain why:</p>
<p>Three words spring immediately to mind: Walking in Stations. For years now CCP&#8217;s developers have been teasing us with this little tidbit that, when launched, will change the face of a game that until now has kept its players inside of their ships. If done correctly, it&#8217;s going to be a little bit like adding another whole game over top of the one that currently exists.</p>
<p>&#8220;Sure,&#8221; you&#8217;d say to me next, &#8220;that&#8217;s a bit of potential, but dripping? That might be a bit of hyperbole.&#8221; I would of course answer first by complimenting you on your vocabulary use and second by telling you that the devs have hinted at other exciting aspects that could be added to the game including, but not limited to, the idea of planetary exploration. See? Potential&#8230; loads of it.</p>
<p><strong>6 &#8211; World of Darkness</strong></p>
<p>I honestly tossed around the idea of whether or not this game should make the list. After all, not only is there very little known about the upcoming World of Darkness MMO, but I&#8217;m not even sure what the timetable for it might be. Then I thought about the fact that it&#8217;s an MMO based on what is arguably the second most famous pen and paper RPG franchise of all time.</p>
<div><a href="javascript:viewImage(220,224,'|features|3330|images|3330_5.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/3330/images/3330_5_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>When CCP and White Wolf merged back in November of 2006, the MMO world got excited about the fact that White Wolf&#8217;s universe would be moving into the online commuity. There&#8217;s lots to like about a franchise that deals with some of the most classic ideas of the horror genre and it&#8217;s no wonder that people got excited. It isn&#8217;t, however, the setting or the IP that raises the game&#8217;s potential in my eyes. In my opinion, it&#8217;s the company behind it and the circumstances that surround that game that fill it with potential.</p>
<p>CCP is well known for taking the idea of sandbox MMOs very seriously given the nature of its only other MMO release, EVE Online. One has to assume that if they are going to invest time and resources into a second MMO that they wouldn&#8217;t deviate too significantly from the formula that made them a success and the idea of a new sandbox game steeped in the lore of the World of Darkness should be enough to get anyone excited.</p>
<p><strong>5 – Fallen Earth</strong></p>
<p>Icarus Studios has been around for a while, touting an MMO that takes place in the aftermath of a plague that wipes out much of the world’s population.</p>
<div><a href="javascript:viewImage(800,600,'|features|3330|images|3330_6.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/3330/images/3330_6_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>The game itself makes the list of games with potential partially because of the setting. A post-apocalyptic MMO is full of possibilities, giving players the opportunity to eek out an existence is a universe that really couldn’t be much further removed from the fantasy realm of elves and dwarves. Then, of course, there are the features.</p>
<p>Fallen Earth promises to show us a game that takes a new approach to classes where players don’t have to commit right from the beginning, having a chance to interact with the world before making a concrete decision. That doesn’t rock your world? Doesn’t give you tingles of joy? Well maybe you’re one of the many MMO fans who feel that crafting systems have gotten the shaft in recent years. Maybe you’re one of those people who have been hoping for a game that would give it an important role rather than making it a half-forgotten sideshow as others have done. Whatever the case may be, Fallen Earth promises to deliver meaningful crafting.</p>
<p>These features, along with a few others, make Fallen Earth another of my MMOs with great potential.</p>

<p><strong>4 – Global Agenda</strong></p>
<p>When the MMORPG.com staff went down to attend E3 this year, we gave our Editor’s choice award to Global Agenda and the folks from Hi-Rez Studios. With launch eeking ever closer, this sci-fi MMO has grabbed my attention in a number of ways and has more than enough interesting aspects to score highly on my potential-o-meter.</p>
<p>When Dana Massey got a hands-on at E3, he came back to work talking about two aspects of the game specifically: The first were jetpacks. Global Agenda will allow players the use of jetpacks as a travel and combat mechanism, but the catch is that players won’t be able to use their guns while using their packs. The second revolved around the way that the game presented melee combat in its FPS skin, a feat that isn’t easy to pull off. Still, while those aspects are pretty interesting and will certainly add something new and interesting to the game, but that wasn’t what really grabbed my attention in terms of potential. For me, the real potential is in the genre.</p>
<div><a href="javascript:viewImage(800,600,'|features|3330|images|3330_7.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/3330/images/3330_7_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>I have said for a long time that there is a great deal of potential in marrying the MMORPGs with the FPS genre. Show me a game that promises all of the depth of story, character and environment of an MMORPG combined with the fast paced action and overall skill requirements of an FPS, and I’ll show you a game with the potential to do something special.</p>
<p><strong>3 – Aion</strong></p>
<p>I know that there are going to be people out there who feel like I placed Aion too low on my list. After all, it is the game that some have been touting as the long awaited competitor for WoW. There will also be those of you out there who feel like I placed Aion too high on my list with thoughts that it doesn’t really offer anything new to the genre. For my part, I think I’ve placed it perfectly partially because of the controversy that seems to be surrounding it at the moment. It seems that the closer an MMO gets to launch, the more polarized the audience becomes.</p>
<div><a href="javascript:viewImage(800,600,'|features|3330|images|3330_8.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/3330/images/3330_8_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>I say that Aion is full of potential for a number of reasons. The first is its approach to race in a fantasy setting MMO. Looking to the principle that players want some degree of uniformity to their races, but want aesthetic difference, the team has compiled an incredibly detailed character creator that will allow players to create an elf or a dwarf or really almost anything else if they so choose. It’s actually an interesting way of stripping away the veneer of statistical racial difference in high fantasy games.</p>
<p>That brings me to the idea of flight. Personally, I like the way it’s being handled with this game. By making flight a limited ability, the developers are able to take full advantage of extraordinary combat potential while at the same time controlling the distances that players move. PvP is also an interesting aspect of this game and, if done properly, could really go a long way toward capturing a niche crowd that hasn’t been impressed with recent offerings in that direction. The real potential in this one though is that it has so many people fired up. When that happens, games tend to have a successful launch in terms of immediate numbers. If, and I stress if, Aion is able to impress the many people who will undoubtedly pick it up in the early days it may just live up to expectations.</p>
<p><strong>2 – Star Trek Online</strong></p>
<p>I started this list off by saying that I’m a big fan of the Stargate franchise. Well, being a bigger nerd than anyone rightfully should be, I’m an even bigger fan of the Star Trek franchise. Not that I’m alone in this. Alongside Star Wars, Trek is probably the most recognizable sci-fi franchise on the planet. To say that there are a lot of people anxiously waiting to be able to jump in and actually experience their favourite universe is an understatement.</p>
<div><a href="javascript:viewImage(800,600,'|features|3330|images|3330_9.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/3330/images/3330_9_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>When Cryptic announced that they had secured the project after the collapse of Perpetual Entertainment, all eyes and expectations turned to them because everyone, whether or not they are a fan of Star Trek, sees the potential that lies in this particular IP. The unfortunate truth for Cryptic is that in order to make a game, design decisions need to be made that aren’t always going to be popular with the game’s entire would-be audience. Still, they have forged ahead, and will bring us a game that includes two factions: Federation and Klingon, NPC crews, customizable ships, alien race creators, an ever expanding universe and more. Each of these decision, popular with some, unpopular with others, are yet to be seen. They all have the potential to come together to make a great Star Trek game. Will they live up to the potential? Only time will tell.</p>
<p><strong>1 – Star Wars: The Old Republic</strong></p>
<p>The Old Republic started out as the worst kept secret in the business and when someone finally admitted that Bioware was indeed working on an MMO based on the successful Knights of the Old Republic franchise, there was much rejoicing. As time has gone on, and details are slowly (like glacially slowly) coming to light about the game, more and more people are beginning to express their doubts.</p>
<div><a href="javascript:viewImage(800,600,'|features|3330|images|3330_10.jpg');"><img src="http://images.mmorpg.com/features/3330/images/3330_10_t.jpg" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>One of the biggest complaints that I have heard about this game is actually something that I would classify as the aspect that carries the most potential, and makes TOR my number one most anticipated game: A focus on story and character.</p>
<p>The complaints are pretty easy to see: if there is a focus on individual character and individual story in a persistent world, how will a community be fostered? How will the game be anything but a single player game with lots of other people running around? How will the game retain players over the long term rather than a single play to max level and then an end? The list could literally go on for pages, but here’s the cool thing: No one right now outside of Bioware actually knows what the answers to those questions are. It is possible that, now stay with me, a company that has the experience and reputation of Bioware might actually have thought of these questions as well and found ways to address them. There is so much potential in the idea that a company may have found a way to actually present an MMO where individual decisions matter and a story, not a constant desire to level drives players through the game that there really wasn’t much choice but to say that Star Wars: The Old Republic has the most potential right now of any game currently in development.</p>
<p>Of course, there’s an almost equal chance that the naysayers are right and that no answers to these issues have been found. That’s really the beauty of potential. No one knows if it will be lived up to or not until they can see it with their own eyes.</p></div>
